Hey everybody.

So obviously I’ve let this thing just hang out for months on end. I’m afraid I’ve just been too tied up with my job to keep up the rather hefty time toll this comic requires on a weekly basis. Since I started my new job last year, things have really changed. My responsibilities have grown… like a LOT. As with all game jobs, it requires some major crunch times. Couple that with some majorly regular life intrusions and you end up with very little free time. It’s the same old story for all webcomic artists. We get work, our productivity drops off.

So that’s a bummer, I know. It bums me out too. Everybody’s bummed. Bums all around. I miss doing this comic every week. It’s a ridiculous amount of work for very little… anything at all, but this story has a lot of personal relevance to my life (because obviously my life is rife with angry lizard people).

All that to say, this isn’t the end of Vapor Trails. In fact, the next page is about half done. It’s coming back, I’m just not going to promise any kind of real update schedule until I’m not working ridiculous hours at the old text factory.

IN THE MEANTIME, know that I’ve got a web series in the middle of shooting, a lot of extraneous content going on for the company that so graciously pays me to write stupid shit about dragons, aaaaaand there might be another comic you all miss coming back soon.  Thanks for being patient!

I am way drunk right now, so prepare yourselves for RAMBLING.

I’m sorry the posts have been so sporadic lately. I hit a weird point tonight where I was just flying through the coloring process and everything just felt natural. I haven’t felt that way in a long time. Making this chapter has felt awkward at its best times. I’m not sure why. I think there’s a lot of emotional baggage coming up quickly and it’s very difficult for me to deal with. How terribly artsy of me.

I’ll keep plugging away, but expect slow updates. My motivation levels have been extraordinarily low, with work sapping a lot of my creative energies. I feel pent up, but it’s not the sort of pent up that wears on me. It’s just that I don’t want to unleash that nastiness on Vapor Trails. This is my labor of love and it needs to remain that way.

I’ve been exploring the story a lot lately, as well as my own proclivities as a writer, and finding more and more that needs delving into. It’s not just the world-building, it’s the emotional connection I used to feel so strongly. I’m trying to find it again and it’s dredging up a lot of feelings I had put behind long ago. It has been, truthfully, a somewhat painful process, but one that I think will bring this story back into my heart.

In non-emo news, I’ve got a web series coming soon called Phoenix Run! Shit’s gonna be awesome.

Late post tonight, but I’m working on my new schedule and it meant getting next week’s page about halfway done before this one was completed. That’s good news for youuuu.

I hope you’re all sending well wishes to my lady. Her surgery went well, but she’s got a good bit of recovery ahead.

Alriiiight here we are. It’s midnight, I’m watching the end of Dollman and I wish I could say that I didn’t enjoy the hell out of it. It was almost as good as the 90′s American live-action version of Fist of the North Star, which I also watched tonight. Inspiring stuff, really.

I want to extend a hearty thanks to Ms. Sonia Harris for her kind words about the comic on CBR. She’s awesome and she has great taste. Obviously. You should definitely keep an eye on her column, Committed, and read everything she tells you to. Just bow down to her already, would you?

If everybody could send some good thoughts our way, it’s a time of turmoil around the old Strode homestead. Lindsey’s going in for minor surgery on Monday and my step-dad’s mother is quite sick. We could all use any cheer you could send us.

Here it is! About an hour late (or 16 hours late if you count my usual posting time). WHEW. That damn War Wagon ended up being a huuuuge design problem. In that, I lost the original design and had to come up with something new.

It’s been a rocky start for Chapter 2. I can’t say it’s going to get better in the next few weeks, but I’m getting myself more organized to deal with the increased workload and the constant bouts of illness and family problems.

Stick with it people, things have only begun to get weird!

BARELY MADE IT.

The holiday break got me into great spirits. I feel reinvigorated and excited for the new year. Comics are coming down the pipeline, I PRAWMIS.

For tonight, however, I’m retiring to LA Noire and a glass of scotch while my dog sleeps at my feet. The good life.

There’s a Facebook post about all the late pages. It’s not that I don’t love you people a lot, it’s that I don’t love myself a lot more.

Anyway, it’s Christmas and I will be lost in Alaska for a week. It’s time to get away from this city and reconvene with the awesome force of nature.

Sickness, my social life, and a brand new puppy are this week’s excuse. Also, I forgot to hit the post button this morning, so that’s awesome.
